Commonly Asked Questions

  • We have a few spots up front for parking, as well as a whole parking lot located in the back of the building and to our side. The side parking lot is private, but we have spoken with our neighbors at the Co-op and they have agreed to allow our customers to park there for the 23’-24’ season! All handicap individuals are allowed to park in their parking lot at any time. Customers are also allowed to park there to run in for donuts, on the weekends and any time after 5pm despite the current signs hung up. They just ask us to remind all customers to please remember to be courteous to their special needs clients who need up front parking.

  • Currently we are closed Monday through Thursday for walk-in’s. The need for donuts wasn’t enough to keep us open during those days. However, if you would like to schedule event donuts, cake pops, treat tables, ice cream cakes or more, we do take orders for pick up during the week! Just send us a message or give us a call. Order minimum is $40.

  • We chose to test the waters fall of 2022 to see if the community would like donuts in town and we were overwhelmed with the amazing support that in February of 2023 we decided to open and go full force with the donut side of Freakin’ Sweets creating even more sweet combinations we know you’ll love. Due to the building we do not make the donut dough in house, we do however create the fillings from scratch and hand make each one fresh every morning!

  • NOPE! No slushies, or soft served ice cream. We also don’t have banana splits or typical sundae’s. We wanted to stick with a smaller menu that had what other ice cream shops didn’t. We don’t want to compete with DQ or Culvers, we wanted to stand out and to do that we chose a menu that’s a little different.

  • Our 7 year old daughter! She wanted crazy ice cream combinations and when we looked up ice cream near us we couldn’t find one with what she was wanting without having to drive 30-40 minutes away. So Freakin’ Sweets was born!

  • Freak shakes were created in Australia and they coined the term now popularly used across the world. I almost named the shop Suga-Loopas like Oompa Loompas but thankfully my husband saved us and suggested the name Freakin’ Sweets since we we’re serving freaky sweet combinations. Clearly it makes way more sense than my idea lol.

  • We could easily get popular brands like Hudsonville but we wanted to support Michigan Made ice cream and small businesses with a family like ours. We believe small businesses should support one another and after meeting the Gaylord family, the creators and owners of Plainwell ice cream, we knew we wanted to partner with them right away. They were kind, hard workers, value family and take pride in the quality of their ice cream. We do also offer a few other brands such as Ashby’s, MOO-ville, Michigan Made and NEW this year, BrownDog, for their unique flavors and lactose free options.

  • We are located at 303 1/2 West Chicago road in Sturgis Michigan. We are in the same building as TC Appliance at the west end of the downtown Sturgis strip. We chose Sturgis because we live here, we’re raising our family here, and we take pride in contributing to our community and bringing joy to the children in the area. As for the building, we have a parking lot in back and a big grassy area with picnic tables for our customers to enjoy on the other side of the building. What could be better than that?

Allergies

Peanut Allergy

Everything that is made in our facility has the chance to be in contact with nuts, milk and gluten. We do have certain items that do not contain nuts but cross contamination is a high probability and we suggest that anyone with a deadly allergy be highly aware of the contamination possibility.

None of our baked goods have true peanut butter in them. Not even our buckeyes or peanut butter cookies. Our butter pecan, cougar tracks, haystacks, peanut butter fudge and jamocha almond fudge do have peanut oil in them.

Gluten Free

All of our current flavors are gluten free except for our chocolate chip cookie dough. Our baked goods and waffle cones do have gluten in them at this time.

Dairy Free

We have multiple dairy free options as well as Mooville’s A2A2 ice cream flavor of the month. A2A2 milk is organic milk that removes the protein that can cause the irritation in lactose intolerant people!

Soy Allergy

Our peanut butter cookies and peanut butter buckeyes are not made with real peanut butter but they are made with Soy. Our current flavors including our chocolate chip cookie dough, cougar tracks and jamocha almond fudge also have soy. Flavors will rotate.

Ask a Freakin’ employee for more information.
